Dear AFS member,

Since the Institute was informed about the Canada Revenue Agency’s Greater Toronto Area (GTA) Service Modernization initiative at the end of June, I have written to the Hon. Diane Lebouthiller, Minister of National Revenue, and Bob Hamilton, Commissioner of Revenue, to express our serious concerns about the negative impact this plan will have on some 1,000 PIPSC members and their families, and to call for a halt to the implementation of the CRA GTA Service Modernization Plan.

PIPSC has created a petition as well as a sample letter for members to send to their MPs. On behalf of its members, PIPSC will submit a paper petition rather than an e-petition. (Paper petitions require a minimum of 25 signatures, whereas e-petitions require a minimum of 500 signatures.)

AFS President Doug Mason is coordinating the gathering of signatures on the petition so that it can be presented to Members of Parliament in the House of Commons.

Mr. Mason is raising concerns with the national management of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and Mr. Al Ravjani is doing so as well with CRA regional management. Mr. Mason and Mr. Ravjiani can address the steps being taken by the AFS Group.

Staff in the Institute’s Ontario Regional Office are working closely with PIPSC Legal Services to provide guidance to AFS members regarding their rights as well as legal issues raised by the proposed relocation of our members. If you have questions, we encourage you to contact your local Steward and/or Employment Relations Officer (ERO) in the Ontario Regional Office.

We encourage AFS members to take action. Please contact the Executive members of your Sub-Group to find out how you can help.

If we all act together and apply pressure now, we can help force the CRA to reconsider this wrongheaded decision.

Better Together!
