Labour Day is an annual holiday to celebrate the achievements of workers. Labour Day has its origins in the union movement, specifically the eight hour work day movement, which advocated eight hours for work, eight hours for recreation, and eight hours for rest. On behalf of the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC) National Capital Region Executive and Chair Greg Scriver, we would like to invite all NCR members along with their family and friends to join us for the 2017 Labour Day Parade Walk and BBQ. Come out and enjoy the 2.2KM walk and then the FREE BBQ, FREE activities and FREE entertainment at McNabb Park. Fun for the whole family!
PIPSC will again enter a float this year in the Parade and volunteers are needed to help decorate it at 11:15 a.m. on Monday morning September 4, 2017.
Volunteers needed: If you can help with decorating or can volunteer for other aspects of the event please let us know by sending an email to Greg Scriver . We would love to see representation from all our Branches and Groups – bring your banners and flags!

Departure meeting place: Ottawa City Hall (Elgin and Lisgar) around 11:30 a.m.
Parade Start Time: 12:00 p.m. (noon)
Destination: McNabb Park (Gladstone and Bronson) – 2.2 km walk
Activities/entertainment/food and more: 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Balloons, live music, pony rides, Moon Bounce, face painting, soft drinks, hot dogs, corn on the cob and more!
