Your respective collective agreements stipulate that vacation and compensatory leave earned during the previous fiscal year and outstanding on a certain date (most commonly March 31) is to be automatically cashed out.
However, in light of the ongoing problems with the Phoenix pay system, for the years 2021-2022, this will not be the case unless requested by the employee. The next automatic cash-out date of excess hours will be, in most cases, on March 31, 2022, or on the date stipulated in your collective agreement for that year.
We have been in touch with government officials on this issue and agree with this decision. Be assured that this does not represent a loss of your entitlement.
Note: The employer has now issued an online bulletin on this issue for the 2021-2022 fiscal year.
