1. Opening and General Discussion (All)

Round table and presentation of each committee member.

 

2. Develop content for webinar on Professional integrity and De-professionalisation (All)

Tim suggests having the survey in mind before doing the webinar.
Tim suggests lunch & learn webinar.

Sean proposes generic webinars at first and then targets some specifiques subjects.

 

3. Discussion on Training and Professional development (All)
Sean and John talking about outsourcing.
Johanne says that artificial intelligence can be a problem and people are getting replaced by it.
Tim mentions that some members are not aware of the de-professionalisation.
Johanne talks about the new professional title and qualifications required that changed over the time.
Erika talks about an opportunity to do a survey for members.
Johanne explains that the employer doesn’t provide training for members after a couple of years of experience. You need to pay them and if you don’t, you can lose your position not having the right tools.

Nashwa and Rohit discussed that many people don't talk about issues/ don’t become stewards/ file complaints because they are on probation during 12 months at the government, which can cause stress.

 

4. Identify linkages with bodies and organizations to further our goals. (All)

Glen suggests:  increase awareness about de-professionalisation in the workplace, what it is and why this is an important issue.

Tim proposes to bring some training webinars for stewards.

Johanne mentions that it could be helpful to have a negotiator and ERO on the webinar.

Tim suggests reaching out to CBA and explain the goal of the Committee to see if we can get help from them. What could we offer to them?

Johanne said that in her domain, the private sector doesn’t do much promotion.

 

Action items:

  1. Johanne to share the question Michael drafted for the survey with everyone.
  2. Erika to ask if the bargaining survey data can be shared with the Committee to Michael and Ryan.
  3. Sean to reach out to the Mobilization team and write a proposal.
  4. Everyone to review and give feedback on the proposal before the next meeting.
