Dear colleagues and friends,
With profound sadness, we learned that our colleague, Joshua King, passed away on Tuesday, February 21. Josh suffered a debilitating stroke last summer and had been in the hospital since that time. Unfortunately, the damage from the stroke was too severe and he could not recover from it.
Joshua King received earned his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Waterloo in 2009 and 2014, respectively. Josh joined the Climate Processes Section of Environment and Climate Change Canada in January 2014 as a NSERC Visiting Fellow and was appointed to an indeterminate RES position in November 2018. Josh was a very dedicated and innovative scientist who was highly regarded by his colleagues in Downsview, Ontario as well as internationally for his expertise in microwave remote sensing of snow and Arctic fieldwork. He made significant science contributions to the science program, especially in the science development of the Terrestrial Snow Mass Mission (TSMM). We miss him greatly.
Josh leaves behind his wife, Kelly, and young son, Norm. I have created a virtual sympathy card for Josh’s friends and colleagues to sign, which will be sent to Kelly on Monday, March 6 at noon (Eastern time).
