What a nicer way to start our SP union year than with a meeting with the Employer! Your Bargaining Team aims for a quick deal by the summer, before the federal election period starts, though it will not at the expense of a fair deal for all of you. So, by meeting early, we are trying to dance in that direction. Will we have someone to tango with?

The “Holland Cross Debates” sessions are intended to offer an open discussion with some PIPSC officials about key issues in the collective bargaining and other career related issues.

On Thursday, January 10, 2019 representatives from your Bargaining Team - Robert Tellier, Stan Buday, Dean Corda, and Eva Henshaw with Denise Doherty (PIPSC negotiator) - met with Treasury Board to exchange proposals for the renewal of the collective agreement, which expired December 21, 2018.

According to RE bylaw 8.4, each region defined in the By-Laws of the Institute and each component group within the RE Group shall be represented on the Executive by a minimum of one (1) elected member.

The federal government has just announced that it is proposing new measures to help correct the wide-ranging issue of employees having to repay the gross instead of the net amount of a salary overpayment caused by system, administrative or clerical errors. This is particularly significant for PIPSC members: tens of thousands of you have experienced this problem first-hand thanks to the calamitous Phoenix system.

Bargaining Bulletin #5 Bargaining Update for PIPSC NR Members On December 3 to 5, your NR Bargaining Team met to finalize our bargaining positions.

Like many Canadians, I was sorry to learn yesterday that Treasury Board President and Minister of Digital Government Scott Brison is leaving Cabinet and will not be seeking re-election later this year.

The Team will be hosting two open houses next week on Tuesday and Wednesday to solicit input from the members on issues or concerns to be addressed during this round of bargaining. Please drop in and join us for coffee/tea and snacks!
