All members of the Ottawa Centreville Branch (OCB/Branch) of the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC) are cordially invited to attend and participate in the 2018 OCB Annual General Meeting (AGM), elections and dinner.

The Statistics Canada Ottawa CS Sub-Group Executive Committee is composed of 1 president and up-to 10 members-at-large. All the positions are for a 2 year term with half the members-at-large being up for election each year.

Many PIPSC members will be retiring in the coming years. Can we or can’t we, should we or should we not: These are the questions that many of us are now facing. The Ottawa Centreville Branch is pleased to present a 2 1/2 hours retirement planning workshop for its members.

All PIPSC AV Gatineau Sub-Group members (AU, CO and PG with employment address in Gatineau) are cordially invited to attend and participate in the AV Group Gatineau Sub-Group Sixth Annual General Meeting with complimentary lunch.

At the request of the SUN-RT Group Executive and as per PIPSC By-Law 17.3.2.1, the PIPSC Elections committee is conducting the 2018 SUN-RT elections to the Group Executive. As Researchers, it is essential to be able to participate in conferences, not only for our career progression, but to benefit the research program and the reputation of the Government of Canada. We must remember that conference attendance as well as scientific and professional society participation are not ‘training’ or a ‘perk’, but rather a critical part of how we do our work.

PIPSC Phoenix Lunch and Learn Dear Members, You are invited to a PIPSC Nix Phoenix Lunch and Learn that we will be holding on May 16, 2018 to mark the second anniversary of the Phoenix pay system.

You and your spouse are invited to attend a Pension Information Session on May 31, 2018. Session is delivered by Pension Services through WebEx. You can attended at the Future Inn in Halifax or from your home.  The session runs from 5pm to 8pm.

On Monday May 28th at noon, the Statistics Canada CS – Subgroup will be hosting a one hour “Lunch and Learn” in the Simon Goldberg conference room to discuss the issue of the Employee Wellness Support Program (EWSP), formerly known as sick leave. Voter’s Kit for the 2018 Election to the AFS Group Executive There is one (1) vacancy on the AFS Group executive. The successful candidate will take Office on July 1, 2018.

On March 29, 2018, Treasury Board Secretariat released the results of the 2017 Public Service Employee Survey. Conducted every three years, the survey measures federal public servants' opinions on various aspects of their workplace.

In response to the growing requests for help from PIPSC members, the union is assigning additional resources to deal with Phoenix-related issues.

We recently shared the good news that on March 29, 2018, your bargaining team reached a tentative agreement with NRC management for the NRC RO/RCO group.

Last month, I had the opportunity to represent PIPSC and the Canadian labour movement at the Labour 7 (L-7) summit in Ottawa. This was a preparatory meeting hosted by the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) leading up to the G-7 meeting this summer in Québec.

In appreciation of our stewards we are having a steward only event on May 25 starting at 5:00 PM.

We would like to provide an update on the PSTAR grievances, FPSLREB File Nos. 566.34.9832 & 9833 (Myles & Alcock). We are still waiting for the Labour Board (FPSLREB) to set hearing dates in these matters, however, we expect that it will later this year.
