Bruce Buchardt announced quorum and called the meeting to order at 5:28pm.

Introductions

Each of the Subgroup’s executives introduced themselves to everybody else present. Each person gave an introduction, their current position/level, and provided a brief description of their past work experiences in the CRA.

AFS Bargaining Session

Bruce Buchardt informed the Subgroup that he attended a two-day meeting in London on June 14-15 concerning the upcoming collective bargaining process involving AFS and the CRA. It was primarily a consultative session. Discussions were held on leave provisions, work-life balance, job security provisions, and other items of interest to the AFS membership.

AFS AGM

Bruce Buchardt informed the Subgroup that the AFS Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held on Friday, June 17, 2022 in London, Ontario. The delegates representing the HQ Subgroup were Bruce Buchardt, Patrick McIver and Andra Weis.

Headquarters Region AFS Representative

Dan Quinn was invited to attend the meeting to explain his role as the HQ representative on the AFS national executive, and his role as the Chief Steward for AFS. However, Dan was not able to attend the meeting but will be invited to attend a future meeting to discuss this topic.

Other Business

Steward Training - Basic Steward Training was held from June 14-16 in Gatineau. Subgroup executives Brian Busby, Audrey Wojcik and Lin Bian attended. Brian advised it was really well done and he learned a lot. Patrick McIver informed the group that PIPSC will be conducting another Basic Steward Training session in the fall, which he plans on attending. Also, each member of the Subgroup executive is required to be a steward and thus, are required to take this training.

Close of Meeting

Daryl Boychuk made the motion to close the meeting. Motion seconded by Bruce Buchardt. Motion passed. Meeting closed at 6:25pm.

 

Bruce Buchardt informed the group that the next meeting of the Subgroup executive will likely be held in the fall, after the PIPSC Annual General Meeting being held from November 18-19, 2022 in Montreal.
