In March, the leadership at CRA announced serious job cuts at the Agency. We understand these cuts may cause anxiety and stress. While the full impact of these cuts is not known, your AFS Executive is here to help you through this difficult time.

You can seek help from an AFS Steward or executive member if you have concerns or wish to file a grievance.

Your union is advocating on your behalf by:

  • ensuring that all provisions of the collective agreement are properly applied during these cuts, including ensuring you are paid properly for your work, such as acting pay for work outside your job description.

  • advocating for our members' work and standing firm on how cuts will hurt the Canadian public.

  • facilitating information and training sessions with our AFS steward network so they can meet our members’ needs.

  • representing members on Work Force Adjustment Committees. These committees aim to give affected members every reasonable opportunity to continue their careers as CRA employees.

PIPSC has created fact sheets and frequently asked questions about work force adjustment

It is important to stay in communication with your union at this time:

We also recommend using a personal email address for PIPSC communication.

Our main goal is to support our members and keep job cuts to a minimum. Cutting positions in the AFS Group will reduce the overall revenue collected by the government, hindering and not helping the federal government reach its financial goals.
