Guest Speakers:
Jennifer Carr (PIPSC President)
The President of the Institute made the following points:
Phoenix and Canada Life. 8 years after implementing the Phoenix payroll system, cases of non-payment are still soaring in the Public Service of Canada. Since 2020, no compensation for damages has been offered to public service employees on this matter. Canada Life, which has been serving more than 1.7 million Canadian public service employees since July 2023, has increased the volume of calls their call centre can receive so that every member can complete their enrolment and file their claim online. There will soon be a webinar session with members to reduce anxiety about workforce adjustment (WFA) in the Public Service of Canada.
Pierre Potvin (Québec Region President and Director)
Pierre elaborated on the topic of accidents at work when teleworking. He confirmed that the CNESST takes on cases and supports employees in their dealings with their employer. He reminded members to always respect their virtual working agreement.
Mario Ostiguy (CS Group National Representative)
Mario elaborated on Pierre’s topic concerning accidents at work when teleworking. He reminded members to consult an Employment Relations Officer (ERO) if they have any questions on this subject.
