The national Canadian Food Inspection Agency – Veterinary Medicine (CFIA-VM) Group executive is seeking nominations for the following positions:
- Atlantic Representative – 2-year term
- Québec Representative – 2-year term
- Ontario Representative – 2-year term
- 2 Member-at-Large Positions – 2-year term

The nomination and election process is governed by our Group bylaws (Bylaw 7.1 to 7.3.6.)
Here is a summary of the process:
- nominations must be supported by at least 3 CFIA-VM Group members
- the Elections Committee will review the nominations to make sure nominees are eligible
- if necessary, the Elections Committee will hold a vote
As a member of the group executive, your role is to:
- further the professional interests of the members
- protect the status and standards of our profession
- represent the views of the members on matters affecting them
- ensure that the interests of the Group are represented in all proceedings of the employer and of the union
The CFIA-VM Group is looking for candidates who have significant previous union experience and a good working knowledge of the CFIA-VM Collective Agreement and PIPSC.
Elected officials will be required to:
- assume Officer portfolios
- attend sub-group Annual General Meetings (AGM) in their region
- attend the CFIA-VM Group and PIPSC AGMs, as well as the sub-group President’s meeting
The executive meets approximately 5 times per year.
These are volunteer positions that require a commitment to performing duties both during and outside of normal public service work hours.
