The National Film Board Group (NFB) Bargaining Team is proud to announce that you have voted in favour of a new collective agreement.
Highlights of this tentative agreement include:
- 4-year agreement expiring June 30, 2026
- Wage increases totalling 12.5% over 4 years, compounded to 13.14%
- $2,500 one-time non-pensionable lump sum allowance to be paid to all employees in the bargaining unit on the date of signing of the collective agreement
- Increase from 5 to 10 days of vacation that can be postponed
- Vacation credits in excess of 10 days will now be cashed-out
- New leave for Traditional Indigenous Practices
- Improving the definition of career and professional development
- A “Letter of Agreement on Telework” that addresses issues and concerns with the employer’s directive
- Increase from $1,500 to $6,000 for education allowance in case of lay-offs
- The employer agreed to publish a policy on paid time for medical and dental appointments.
Implementation
The NFB Group expects to sign the collective agreement in June 2024. The agreement will come into effect on the day of signing.
The agreement provides specific timelines and criteria for implementation and retroactivity:
- Implementation within 180 days of signing the collective agreement
- Retroactive pay increases payable to employees will be implemented within 180 days after signature of this agreement, where there is no need for manual intervention
- Prospective compensation increases and retroactive amounts that require manual intervention will be implemented within 460 days after signature of this agreement
- Employees in the bargaining unit for whom this agreement is not fully implemented within 180 days after signature of this agreement will be entitled to a lump sum of $200 non-pensionable amount when the outstanding amount owed after 181 days is greater than $500. This amount will be included in their final retroactive payment
