Dear Colleagues,Ribbon

The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, often referred to as White Ribbon Day, is a somber day observed annually in Canada on December 6th. This day commemorates the tragic École Polytechnique massacre of 1989, where armed student Marc Lépine murdered 14 women and injured 14 others in a misogynistic act.

We are cordially inviting you to attend the December 5th National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women event at NRCAN 580 Booth Street. This event will honor the victims of this tragic event. It is being co-sponsored by the PIPSC NRCAN Branch, the NRCAN NR Sub-group.

Date: December 5, 2025

Time: 11 am ET

Location: 580 Booth Street, Library.

This event will provide an opportunity to reflect, remember, and unite as a community. We will observe a moment of silence, listen to poignant speeches, and participate in lighting candles and placing a wreath.

We are looking for volunteers who work as engineers at the Booth Street location to read parts of the memorial speech. If you are interested, please send a confirmation email by November 28, to pierre.gallant@nrcan-rncan.gc.ca.

We look forward to your presence.
