We would like to update you on the progress of the negotiations for our next collective agreement. We have just concluded the second session of negotiations at the table with the employer’s representatives, where we exchanged further comments on proposals from our non-monetary demand package, all in a collaborative manner. Note that, as mentioned in previous updates, our monetary demands will be submitted at a later date.

During this session, we took the opportunity to clarify and explain why we were pursuing certain changes to the collective agreement on several topics, including but not limited to:

  • Equitable project resourcing;
  • Self-directed research;
  • Publications and authorship; and
  • Conferences and workshops.

Good discussions were held, and progress was made on these and other topics. Our work will be continuing in sessions in May and June. We will keep you apprised of developments, as usual.

Of importance, we have actively monitored PSAC’s strike action and outcomes. We stand in solidarity with them with regard to their demands and taking them into consideration for our negotiations.

Once again, we would like to thank you for your interest and support throughout the bargaining process. We have received great questions and feedback from members which have been very useful in shaping our demands and responses. Please keep them coming!

In solidarity,

Simon Drouin
