The National Research Council – Research Officers/Research Council Officers (NRC-RO/RCO) Group Executive is seeking nominations for the following positions:
- 5 member-at-large positions – 2-year term
Members are encouraged to participate in this union leadership opportunity. Please disconnect from the government's VPN and use a personal device to ensure the form loads.
The nomination and election process is governed by our Group bylaws 7.1 to 7.3.6.
Here is a summary of the process:
- At least 2 group members must support nominations
- The Elections Committee will review the nominations to make sure nominees are eligible
- If necessary, the Elections Committee will hold a vote
As a member of the group executive, your role is to:
- further the professional interests of the members
- protect the status and standards of our profession
- represent the views of the members on matters affecting them
- ensure that the interests of the Group are represented in all proceedings of the employer and of the union
The NRC-RO/RCO Group is looking for candidates with significant previous union experience and a good working knowledge of the NRC-RO/RCO Collective Agreement and PIPSC.
Elected officials will be required to:
- assume Officer portfolios
- attend sub-group Annual General Meetings (AGMs), in their region
- attend the NRC-RO/RCO Group and PIPSC AGMs, as well as the sub-group President’s Meeting
- meet approximately 6 times per year, in person or via Zoom (meetings may take place on weekdays, weekends, and evenings).
These are volunteer positions that require a commitment to performing duties both during and outside of normal public service work hours.
