Your RE Bargaining Team was scheduled to meet with representatives of the Treasury Board and management for the second time this round from May 9 to 11. Unfortunately, just a mere few days before our confirmed session, the Treasury Board negotiator canceled due to personal reasons.

Your RE Bargaining Team is sympathetic to unforeseen personal circumstances, but pushed the Treasury Board team to provide an alternate negotiator. The Treasury Board came up empty handed. In the absence of a lead Treasury Board negotiator, your RE Bargaining Team quickly pivoted to dedicate our time together to further pay proposal development, issue justification, research, and strategizing on a number of important issues identified in our bargaining surveys.

  • Improving your access to conference attendance
  • Addressing administrative burdens you experience
  • Ensuring you don’t lose your research ties when you are on leave
  • Getting you the digital tools (downloading, storing, and computing capacity) you need to do your job
  • Increasing your career development opportunities (sabbaticals)
  • Improving your access to overtime

You can find the RE Bargaining Team complete book of proposals here.

If bargaining seems slow and complicated - you're right, and additional delays don’t help! Your RE Bargaining Team is making a concerted effort to hold the Treasury Board accountable to our shared commitments and come prepared with a back up plan in the future.

We want to remind you that your RE Bargaining Team is only one of the teams negotiating on your behalf.  The PIPSC central table is also negotiating for you on several issues common to members across PIPSC (telework/remote work).  Read about what they are negotiating here.

Your RE Bargaining Team knows that pay is top of mind - especially with the conclusion of the Public Service Alliance of Canada’s strike action. We know that our RE members are also struggling to keep up with the rising cost of living. We will be addressing pay in future negotiation sessions and we will let you know when that happens.

Our next bargaining session is scheduled from July 4 to 6. Your RE Bargaining Team will be there –  ready to fight for a better deal.

Sincerely,

The RE Bargaining Team
