The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30 is approaching.
We invite you to join your PIPSC NCR colleagues at the Remembering the Children gathering on Parliament Hill for National Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.
When: September 30 at 2:00 PM ET
Where: National Aboriginal Veterans Monument at 100 Elgin Street
Please RSVP before September 19, 2025.
Lunch will be provided to PIPSC members. Please wear your orange PIPSC sweatshirt. We will have a limited number of orange sweatshirts and t-shirts available at the event for those who do not already have one.
We will start our remembrance with an Indigenous prayer and smudging. Then we will walk to Parliament Hill to watch the speakers from the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation (NCTR), broadcast live by the APTN.
Please note that mileage, parking, and other claims can’t be made for this event. We will also be sitting on the lawn at Parliament Hill for this event, so please plan accordingly if you need a blanket or lawn chair.
The NCTR website has more information on the event, including a live broadcast on September 30, 2025.
We also encourage you to explore the important lunch and learn sessions, which NCTR will offer daily from September 22 to 26, 2025.
Sessions are free, aimed at an adult audience, and hosted virtually over Zoom and streamed to YouTube. Expert speakers will present for 40 to 50 minutes before a Q&A between the moderator and guest(s). All sessions will have simultaneous English-French and ASL interpretation.
If you have questions, please email Richard Gabaton at rgabaton@pipsc.ca.
We look forward to seeing you on September 30.
