Democracy dies in the dark - Help me shine a light on it.

I believe in the value of unions.  I believe in grassroots unionism and rank and file members.  Unions must not mirror the power structures they serve to balance, they must stand for principles of fairness and justice for all – one union, one set of rules for all.

WHO AM I?:

  • Full-time Vice-President since 2010
  • Steward fearlessly representing members since 1999
  • Proud Mother of 3 successful daughters
  • Cancer survivor!

 MY RECENT ACOMMPLISHMENTS:

  • relentlessly fighting for transparency, accountability, fairness and justice for all!

MY COMMITMENT TO YOU – I WILL TAKE BACK OUR UNION FOR OUR MEMBERS  BY:

  • Being governed by our members – Institute by-laws and policies are sacrosanct
  • Substantially reduce the authority of the President’s office and the Office of the Chief Operating Officer
  • Re-establishing the Board of Directors as having the authority between Annual General meetings
  • Putting the Vice-Presidents to work and ensure they have the authority and resources to do their jobs!
  • Opening the books!
  • Partnering with other unions, not Treasury Board– the labour movements greatest achievements are due to grassroot rank and file members
  • Replacing staff appointments at the Canadian Labour Council and the National Joint Council with elected officials – decision makers should have skin in the game!
  • Dismantling our legal department and streamlining top-heavy management – replace with additional employment relation officers to represent our members!
  • Throwing out the Institute’s complaint system and replacing it with mandatory mediation, and an internal grievance system!
  • Delivering on my commitments!

HOW AM I DIFFERENT?

  • When I make a mistake (which I will), I will own it, take steps to immediately correct it, and make amends as required
  • Treat elected officials and officers of the Institute equally and with respect – require accountability for all one union – one set of rules!
  • Be open to the criticism by elected officials and members– that’s how PIPSC will be better!
