The Employer ratification process of the new collective agreement remains ongoing. The next step for the Employer is to receive Governor in Council (GIC) approval. It is important to remember that the Employer ratification process takes more time than our member ratification process. The Institute continues to support this process, ensuring we don’t suffer any avoidable delays.
We still expect the entirety of the Employer ratification process to take up to 6 months from our ratification, which was achieved in February. Again, it is important to know that this timeline can fluctuate depending on government happenings that are out of both the Employer’s and the Institute’s immediate control.
Once the Employer has secured GIC approval, the contract will be ready for signing. It is from this signature date that the implementation period for retro pay and the SR lump sum are effective.
We will continue to keep the members up to date and will provide as much advance notice of a signature date as possible.
In solidarity,
Your Bargaining Team
