Feedback on info session: Duty to Accommodate. People asked for more general information, e.g., reasons for not working 3-days at the work site.
Visibility items: AGM is coming on Nov. 20, so we need to decide. Voted on items to be purchased for all members who attend the AGM. Discussed a few larger items as door prizes.
For all members
- Water bottle
- Thermos
- Reusable cutlery set
- Lantern/flashlight
Andrea created a poll on items. Vote was in favour of lantern/flashlight.
Larger door prize items were discussed, i.e. luggage or umbrellas
The auditorium is booked for the AGM, 12:00pm - 1:00pm, then anyone who's able will go to 168 Sushi. John Purdie is the guest speaker. John will attend in person, but the meeting will be hybrid.
Coffee meet-and-great to discuss return to the office. Suggestion to have it a week or two after the AGM. Morning coffee, clementines and cookies. In the cafeteria, no speeches, just people dropping by to chat to individual union activists. Andrea will mention it at the AGM and the meet and greet will happen a few weeks later.
Ontario Social and Events Committee. No one on the call has heard anything new.
PIPSC National Elections voting has begun.
PIPSC AGM: Nov. 8 - 9, in Toronto.
Discussion about dues increase.
Suggest that each of us obtain a PIPSC e-mail address. You can request one via a form on the web site.

Notes
PIPSC AGM
- Andrea and Helen attended.
- Dues increase passed. It will be $17.50/month. PIPSC reviewed spending. Last year they did a lot of cost cutting. ERO support, web site, etc. needs support. More money required if more hostile government comes into power.
- New Board of Directors. New President. See https://pipsc.ca/about/governance/committees/elections-information/pipsc-2024-national-election-results
Branch AGM
- 120 people have RSVP'd for the lunch, more for the meeting
- Received visibility item, Flashlights/Lanterns.
- Delay in receiving door prizes because of Canada Post strike
- Alex, Bill, Helen, Harry, Marie and Jian available to help with handing out visibility items
- Helen and Alex to go to the restaurant for 1pm
Coffee Chat: December 4
Budget: Review of budget, suggestions
Round Table
- provision of masks at Downsview. What is the policy at ECCC?
- Commissionaires have their own supply. For employees it's unclear.
- Andrea: we were told masks are still being provided. Please inform Andrea if this is not the case.
- People just don't know that they can obtain them from the warehouse. There should be a sign at the front entrance.
- Opening of the exercise room. It's been a long process. It's still closed after 18 months.
- The last we heard people who were going to use it were to fill out a waver form.
- Diane will contact Wesley to discuss getting the new SBO involved.
