Communication of Ontario Region Executive (ORE) Liaison - Tina MacDonald - August 21, 2022

Introduction – ORE Branch Liaison/ Ontario Provincial Group Liaison

I am very pleased to have been appointed to the ORE, as of summer 2022. My employment is in Windsor, Ontario as a radiation therapist – where I have worked for 34 years. My work experience includes being a radiation therapist (deliver radiation to patients who have cancer) and a few years in an administrative role as Quality Manager, in the cancer centre also. Prior to being a radiation therapist, I was an x-ray technologist.

Not many individuals can say that they still love their job after 40 years - but delivering quality health care is my passion!

Currently, I hold the following roles with PIPSC – WRH MRT: President; Steward; and Joint Health and Safety representative. I have over 20 years of provincial health and safety experience. And now I am excited to add ORE Branch Liaison/ Ontario Provincial Group Liaison to that list.

Please let me know how I can support you and/or your membership as the liaison to the ORE. You can communicate with me at my email, tinamacdonald@msn.com,  and please reach out to me to introduce yourself at PIPSC events. 😊

Ontario Young Professional Committee (OYPC)

ORE Liaison, Rachit Kaura, is putting together more information about the OYPC to share with the membership. Look forward to this in the near future! If you want to inquire about this committee before that please reach out to Rachit @ rkaura94@gmail.com

Communication to membership – email addresses

Please stress to your members the importance of the PIPSC office having the members personal email addresses for easier communication with the members.

  • Work email addresses are always discouraged to be used for any union communication
  • The easiest way to update your contact email is for you to go online and update your profile on the PIPSC website.

If a member prefers not to use their personal email – they can easily create a PIPSC email through the PIPSC website.

Next steps….

We wanted to take the opportunity to send out this first Newsletter - prior to branch elections – so that Presidents and Vice Presidents leaving these roles could liaison back to the ORE.

In July 2022, PIPSC joined the Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL). Affiliation to this group will strengthen and bring together the Labour movement across the province. I will be looking at what role the ORE and myself may fulfill with this group. We look forward to building a strong relationship with the OFL.

We are looking at sending out a survey to the Branch Presidents and Vice Presidents  asking what their needs may be for the ORE liaison. Once the ORE has this information,  the ORE will consider what type of meeting will be beneficial between the ORE liaison and the Branch President. This survey will most likely go out after the November 2022, AGM.

I look forward to working with you.

Sincerely,

Tina MacDonald
