The Prairie/NWT Young Professionals Committee (PNYPC) is seeking volunteers to serve on our Prairie/NWT Young Professionals Committee (PNYPC).
For this call for expression of interest, we will be selecting members for our 5 large branches: Winnipeg, Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon, and Regina.
Mandate:
- provide advice to the Regional Executive on matters related to young professionals
- increase confidence, skills, and knowledge about the union among young professionals
- mobilize young professionals to play a role in building the union for the future
About the Membership:
- open to members of PIPSC Prairie/NWT
- Maximum of 6 members under 40
- 5 members from each large branch (Winnipeg, Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon and Regina)
- 1 representative from one of our small branches (Denwood, Lacombe-Red Deer, Lethbridge, Northeastern Alberta, Northern Manitoba, Northwest Territories, Prince Albert, or Suffield) and the Prairie/ NWT Regional Director.
For this call for expression of interest, we will be selecting members for our 5 large branches which include Winnipeg, Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon and Regina.
Terms:
Three 2-year terms and 1 1-year term, starting January 2025.
Objectives:
- identifying barriers for young professionals in the public service and PIPSC
- advocating for young professionals
- raising issues specific to young professionals
- fostering relationships with like-minded community groups
- reaching out to young professionals in the workplace
- educating young professionals on the union’s role and its benefits
- acting as a liaison with Prairie/NWT Regional Executive
Committee Expectations:
- commit to be available for meetings and events
- organize events within their branch
- work closely as a team as well as independently to ensure committee objectives are met
- engage young professionals on issues and collect feedback
The following criteria may be used to assess the expressions of interest to select inaugural members of the Prairie/NWT Young Professional Committee:
