The AFS Bargaining Team is already hard at work preparing for the next round of collective bargaining. As always, our goal is to secure the best possible collective agreement for all our members.
Our current collective agreement expires on December 21, 2022. Legally, we can start the bargaining process with the CRA up to 120 days (4 months) in advance, which we plan to do.
It’s normal for bargaining to take longer than that, however. The terms and conditions in our current collective agreement will remain the same until we reach a new agreement. Any pay increases will be retroactive.
The first step is to determine our priorities. Our team is reviewing AFS members’ responses from the PIPSC bargaining survey. We’re also considering concerns brought forward to us as well as recent agreements and demands made by other unions.
We’re keenly aware of the damaging impact of inflation. We place the highest priority on achieving fair pay increases for all AFS members.
