SP Sub-Group Executive

Tanya Evans (Elected Jan 2020) – President (regrets)

Denis Semail (Elected Sept 2021) – Vice President

Timothy Powers (Elected Jan 2020) – Treasurer

Robert MacDonald (Appointment May 2022) – Member at large

Sammy Li (Elected Sept 2021) – Member at large

Eric Crawford (Elected Jan 2020) – Member at large

Judy Hartman (Elected Sept 2021) – Member at large (regrets)

 
  1. Confirmed quorum present and Call to Order @ 5:40 PM. Approximately 12 members were present, including executive members Denis Semail, Timothy Powers, Robert MacDonald, Sammy Li and Eric Crawford.

 
  1. Approval of Agenda: M/S/Carried.

 
  1. Approval of Draft Minutes of the SP Sub-Group AGM (Zoom) of September 28, 2021 AGM (accepted without revisions): M/S/Carried.

 
  1. Business Arising from the 2021 AGM Minutes: None

 
  1. Report of the President

Meeting chair, Denis Semail, reviewed the written Report of the President provided by Tanya Evans which is attached to these minutes.

 

Motion to accept the Report of the President: M/S/Carried.

 
  1. Annual Financial Report

Prior to the meeting, AGM participants were provided copies of the following financial documents prepared by Vancouver SP Sub-Group Treasurer Tim Powers

  • “Vancouver SP Sub-Group, Financial Statement – October 13, 2022”
  • “Vancouver SP Sub-Group, 2023 Budget”

 

Tim Powers reviewed the financial documents and answered any questions.

 

Motion to accept the Financial Statement – October 13, 2022: M/S/Carried.

Motion to accept the 2023 Budget: M/S/Carried.

 
  1. Report of the Elections Committee

Denis Semail provided the report of the Elections Committee.

 

  1. The following members were nominated from the floor of the AGM (October 2022). All four candidates accepted the nomination and are in good standing. A total of three calls for nominations were held during the AGM.
    • Tanya Evans
    • Timothy Powers
    • Eric Crawford
    • Lindsay Howes.

 

  1. The new Vancouver SP Sub-Group Executive (as of tonight’s AGM) is as follows:
  • Tanya Evans (Elected October 2022)
  • Denis Semail (Elected Sept 2021)
  • Timothy Powers (Elected October 2022)
  • Robert MacDonald (Appointment May 2022)
  • Sammy Li (Elected Sept 2021)
  • Eric Crawford (Elected Ocotober 2020)
  • Judy Hartman (Elected Sept 2021)
  • Lindsay Howes (Elected October 2022)

 

Tanya Evans will contact the new Executive for a date and location of the first meeting of the Sub-Group Executive.

 
  1. Guest Speaker – Bryan Van Wilgenberg

Bryan Van Wilgenberg, President of the SP Group, provided an extensive and detailed presentation that included:

  • Overview of PIPSC and SP Group
  • Discussion of Top Current Issues (Return to workplace, Defending Public Science)
  • Bargaining Process / Schedule / Next Steps
  • Bargaining Priorities
  • EWSP

 
  1. Discussion & Questions

Members in attendance participated in a good discussion on a variety of issues with Bryan and the Executive answer specific questions.

 

A draw was held to award door prizes.  Four Disaster Emergency Response Kits were awarded. Also each member in attendance were presented with visibility items for their use and promotion of PIPSC.
