The UOITP Group Executive is looking for 2 additional members to be part of the bargaining team for the next round of collective bargaining.
If you’re interested in joining the bargaining team or would like more information, please contact Cara Ryan at cryan@pipsc.ca by October 2, 2022. Include a short expression of your reasons for joining the team and your position with the university.
Please note that this is a commitment that may last for up to a year or more, depending on how the process unfolds. The general time commitment is between 3 to 5 days in a week when bargaining is scheduled. Sometimes negotiation sessions last outside of regular business hours, and there can be work to do in the evenings. During bargaining, we would be scheduling sessions every 4 to 6 weeks.
Traditionally we have met with the employer in person for these sessions, so please be prepared to do so. Depending on the situation with COVID-19, these meetings might have to happen virtually.
As a member of the bargaining team, you will be liberated from your work tasks for bargaining sessions with the employer and preparatory time. In addition to the actual bargaining time, bargaining team members will participate in bargaining preparations with the team, reaching out and connecting with members for their input, and acting as a communications channel for other members throughout the bargaining process.
In solidarity,
Your UOITP Executive
