If you recently received a VM Classification Decision, you must file a classification grievance to protect your rights. CFIA started sending notifications to current and former members who are affected by the Abraham Decision issued on November 11, 2023 that ordered the update of the Job Description related to the Veterinary Medicine (VM-01) - Decision no.59666

If you have recently received such a classification grievance decision for this job, PIPSC is urging you to file a classification grievance.

How to File:

To submit a grievance, please fill out the highlighted sections of the attached prefilled grievance form, insert the date you received notice of the decision (section B), your contact information/signature and your supervisor’s contact information/signature, and submit it to compensation@pipsc.ca along with the notification of the classification decision  Do not modify the document further .  Electronic signatures are accepted.  Should your supervisor be unavailable, an HR representative can sign in their absence.  If you are unable to obtain your supervisor or HR representative’s signature before the deadline, please submit it to PISPC without such a signature, being sure to copy your supervisor on the email to PIPSC.  Copying your supervisor will serve as documentation that the grievance was submitted to the employer on time.

Deadline:

The deadline to submit a grievance is 35 calendar days from the date you received notice of the classification decision.  To allow PIPSC time to process the grievance, all documentation should be submitted to us asap and at least within 25 days of the original notice.  If you were not given notice, the 35 day deadline will not yet have started.

Check regularly PIPSC Website / CFIA-VM page

We strongly recommend that you stay in the know by regularly checking the latest communication shared on the PIPSC website, the CFIA-VM page. Useful and explanatory information and resources are there!

Spread the Word

Because this decision targets 242 current and former incumbents as far back as 2001, PIPSC may not be able to reach all of them. Our legal team is urging the employer to provide a comprehensive list and contact information for affected individuals.  At this time, CFIA has not provided this list.  We encourage members to pass on this email to former colleagues they know to have had the affected job title (Veterinary Medicine VM-01 (59666)) at different moments since May 2001.
