MINUTES AND ACTIONS OF THE MEETING
MEETING CALLED TO ORDER: 5:21 PM
WELCOME & INTRODUCTIONS:
Present: Everett Scott – President, Kevin Jack – Treasurer, Paul Smith – Secretary, Don Eldershaw, Joe Williams, Mounah Zrein, Joe Rossiter, and Christine Dugal – Members at Large
- CALL FOR ADDED AGENDA ITEMS
Everett welcomed everyone to the meeting. Everett asked if there were any new agenda items. None were put forth.
- MOTION TO ACCEPT AGENDA
Everett asked for a motion to accept the agenda. Joe moved to accept the agenda and Christine seconded the motion and the agenda was accepted as presented.
- REVIEW OF MINUTES FROM (Apr 10th Meeting)
Everett asked if there were any errors or omissions with the minutes. There were no changes put forth.
- MOTION TO ACCEPT MINUTES
Everett asked for a motion to accept the minutes. Christine moved to accept the minutes and Joe seconded the motion and the minutes were accepted as presented.
5. REVIEW OF ACTION ITEMS (Apr 10th meeting)
Everett contacted the Halifax branch about co-sponsoring the Hop Skip and Jump
social event. Expects to hear back by the end of July.
Action: Everett to update via email or at next meeting in September.
Everett forwarded parking policy email to executive. Action item closed.
6. FINANCIAL UPDATE
Kevin passed out an updated 2019 budget and gave a short summary of the
changes from the budget presented at the last executive meeting. Right now we
have $XXX.. There was a discussion on the appropriate level of expenditure for
the Shakespeare by the Sea summer event. Executive to discuss further via email
after Don forwards event details.
7. CONSULTATION
Everett mentioned the consultation group meeting next weekend in Yarmouth with
Glenn Maxwell. He also mentioned reclassification of the CS and AV group. He
stated that new executive member Joe Williams is now the consultation rep
for RP Ops Halifax and that Joe, Joe Rossiter and Christine are considering taking
the steward training.
8. SOCIAL EVENTS
Don mentioned that he is still waiting for the Shakespeare by the Sea details. He is planning on sending a notice in early summer for a Corn Maize event and will see if Halifax branch is interested.
9. PRESIDENTS MEETING REPORT
Everett gave a summary of issues discussed at the Presidents meeting held prior
to the ARC in St. John's. Topics covered were lunch and learn guidelines, a fund
set up for providing SWAG for events and branch activities over the year.

- Leadership Course Nov 15-16 (Lord Nelson Hotel).
- Seasonal Social Nov 28.
- PIPSC Centennial Feb 7, 2020 (Argyle St. Office).
- Advanced Steward Training Apr16-18 (Whitepoint).
- Presidents Mtg and ARC May 29-30 (Fredericton).
- Basic Steward Training Sep 26-28 Moncton.
- Steward's Council Oct 23-24 (Lord Nelson Hotel).
- Regional Council Report
Everett gave a report on the recent ARC held in St.John's. Highlights included
Jenn getting elected as a MAL on the ARC executive, the motivational speaker
presentation and the well organized social events.
First time members thought it was an interesting experience, but debated about the
cost benefit ratio.
11. Round Table
Kevin reminded everyone that it is Public Service Week next week and he
questioned whether management would remember or publicize the event.
Kevin motioned to adjourn the meeting and it was seconded by Mounah.
The meeting adjourned at 6:55 PM.
Next meeting: Thursday Sep 12th, location TBD.
