The CRPEG bargaining team met with the Company on May 25-27, 2021. The focus of this session was in receiving the company’s counter on pay. Your bargaining team is asking for a fair wage increase, based on the current growth in the cost of living and the market wage for researchers and engineers in the nuclear industry. The Company wage offer does not come close to the increases necessary even keep up with the rise in prices in the daily goods and services we are all dealing with. Nor does it recognize the constant good professional work of the CRPEG members.
While the negotiations have not yet reached an impasse, very little progress has been made on your priorities. The team is resolute in achieving a tentative agreement at the bargaining table. To that end, both sides have agreed to enlist the help of a facilitator from the Canadian Industrial Relations Board.
New dates are being set for this summer.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the survey on remote work and/or return to the worksite. The results were presented virtually and a memo will be sent out in the next while.
In solidarity your bargaining team,
P.S. As always following directives from PIPSC, CNL and Government of Ontario public health guidelines, negotiations are taking place remotely. Network bandwidth and internet speed limitations continue to be a challenge.
